Emerald was established as a township in 1897. Today people come to for a holiday and stay for a lifetime. There are those who are attracted by the area's natural charm and for some it's the friendliness of the locals that appeals.
What's it like?
Emerald has a warm, dry climate. Winter temperatures range from 5°C to 25°C, while in summer temperatures range from 28°C to 40°C. Emerald has a population of approximately 14,000 and located almost 300kms from the coast, west of the city of Rockhampton.
