Affectionately known as ‘Rocky’, Rockhampton provides a gateway to the wonders of the outback as well as easy access to the beautiful beaches of Central Queensland. It’s also the beef capital of Australia which means sizzling steaks on a barbeque are relatively easy to find. 

What’s it like?

Rockhampton region has two distinct seasons – the wet and the dry. The wet season occurs from December to February. The remaining nine months of the year deliver fine sunny weather. Average maximum temperatures range from 23°C to 32°C and average minimums range from 11°C to 23°C. Rockhampton is located 42kms inland from the Capricorn Coast on the Bruce Highway. It has a population of approximately 60,000.
