Think remuneration

Transport and Main Roads offers competitive pay and salary packages to ensure employees are receiving a fair remuneration for their skills and abilities.

How much will I get paid?

Simply look at the job ad. It will show the classification and salary package (including super and leave loading). If you would like to know the base salary only please contact us

What do job classifications have to do with pay?

You may notice on our job ads every role is allocated a 'classification' (e.g. PO / TO / AO)

This determines the pay level at which the position is offered. These pay levels reflect the skills, knowledge and experience required of the employee to perform their duties appropriately.

Each classification, e.g. PO4 (Professional Officer Level 4) or TO2 (Technical Officer Level 2), has a salary range. In most cases, a new employee will commence at the first level of that salary range and will be eligible for an annual increase until the top of the salary range is reached for that position.

Do I have to pay additional superannuation contributions?

Yes. All new employees (excluding casuals) automatically pay 5% superannuation. For more information, see our Superannuation fact sheet. QSuper is the designated superannuation fund provider for all new Queensland Government employees. As such, when you start working for us, we will automatically set you up with an account. For more information on QSuper, including contributions, benefits, investment options and calculators, visit www.qsuper.qld.gov.au.

What is Salary Packaging?

We offer the option to participate in salary packaging, which is a tax effective way of receiving your salary as a combination of income and benefits.  By reducing your pre-tax income, you can reduce the amount of income tax you pay and increase the amount you take home each fortnight.

Salary packaging is allowed under the Income Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax Assessment Acts. For further information visit www.remserv.com.au.
